Try Halal Gnocchi at New Italian Restaurant, Squisito!

Squisito only opened in November 2019, and is my new favourite Italian restaurant by far. Squisito Modern Italian Restaurant serves authentic, Halal Italian cuisine with a Malay twist to it. Their speciality would definitely be their halal gnocchi — pillow-like pasta made with potatoes which you can’t find anywhere else in Singapore! Check out the full video and watch me give Squisito 5 out of 6 #RavingReviews!

It’s safe to say that Squisito, which only opened in November 2019, is my new favourite Italian restaurant by far. Squisito Modern Italian Restaurant serves authentic, Halal Italian cuisine with a spicy twist to it, whereby some of the food were made spicy to elevate their flavours. Almost all the food there is handmade, so you can expect fresh pasta everyday! Squisito’s speciality would definitely be their halal gnocchi — pillow-like pasta made with potatoes which you can’t find anywhere else in Singapore! Can you believe I actually gave this restaurant 5 out of 6 #RavingReviews during my visit there awhile back?

1. CALAMARI

I love squids, and Squisito’s calamari truly did not disappoint. It’s so crunchy, crispy, and unique — you won’t even need to eat it with the sauce! The spice of the calamari has a good blend of herbs which completed the entire taste really well. This starter earns a solid 5/5 stars, #RavingReviews!

2. GNOCCHI RIPIENI

Gnocchi Ripieni is basically fried gnocchi stuffed with spicy beef. The gnocchi is so soft and once you chew into it, the spiciness kicks in and opens up your taste palette. The spiciness topped with the cheese, makes this the perfect starter (for spicy lovers of course!) when you dine in at Squisito. Another 5/5 stars #RavingReviews!

3. VESUVIO

This beef sausage and meatballs pizza is amazingly well done with its fresh, handmade dough. You can really taste the freshness of it and tell that the whole pizza, including the meatballs in it, were all handmade. Without a doubt 5/5 stars, yes another #RavingReviews!

4. BRACIOLA DI AGNELLO

Feast on Squisito’s fine lamb chops served with sides of mashed potato, grilled vegetables, and black pepper sauce. This dish is truly comfort food — the kind you would need when you’re having a bad day!

5. VEAL MiLANESE

Before this, I’ve never eaten veal before because I initially found it strange, so I was really nervous to try this dish! 😅 I found Squisito’s veal battered and fried really well, which made it so crispy. If you’re curious, veal meat is slightly tougher than chicken, with an acquired taste. I’d say it has more character than chicken, but less character than beef. Overall, this dish was good — I love the salad and the potato fries. But, I’m personally just not that into veal. However, I’d definitely recommend this dish for those who wants to try out veal because this was done really well by Squisito.

6. GNOCCHI DE PATATE WITH TRUFFLE

And I’ve saved the best one for last! This truffle gnocchi made the top of this food list. The gnocchi in this dish is just like soft pillows. The truffle mushroom cream sauce, which I love, is just so nice and thick. 5/5 stars, without a doubt.
